The Volkswagen T2 (1967–1979) is the “Bay Window” generation of the VW Bus, featuring a rounded design, air-cooled flat-four engines, and versatile van or camper versions that became an enduring symbol of 1970s freedom and travel.

The Volkswagen T2, produced from 1967 to 1979 in Germany (and until 2013 in Brazil), is the second generation of the iconic Transporter, following the original T1 “Split-Window” Bus. It retained the rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout but introduced a more modern, rounded body and improved space and comfort.

Known as the “Bay Window” Bus for its single-piece windshield, the T2 was offered in many configurations — from basic panel vans and Kombis to luxurious Caravelles and popular Westfalia camper versions. Engine options ranged from 1.6- to 2.0-liter air-cooled flat-fours, paired with manual or automatic transmissions.

The T2 became a global cultural icon during the 1970s, symbolizing freedom, adventure, and counterculture. Today it remains one of the most recognizable and beloved classic vans, cherished by enthusiasts for its charm, simplicity, and strong connection to the original VW Bus heritage.
