The Volkswagen T3 (1979–1992) is the third-generation Transporter, known for its boxy design, versatile body styles, and options ranging from practical vans to camper conversions and all-wheel-drive Syncro models.

The Volkswagen T3, also known as the Type 25 in the UK and Vanagon in the US, was produced between 1979 and 1992 (with production continuing longer in South Africa). It was the third generation of VW’s iconic Transporter line, following the T1 and T2, and represented a major step forward in design and engineering.

The T3 featured a more angular, boxy body compared to its predecessors, offering increased interior space and practicality. It came in multiple body styles, including panel vans, passenger buses, pickups, and camper conversions (most famously by Westfalia).

Engine options included air-cooled flat-fours at launch, later replaced by water-cooled petrol and diesel engines. In higher trims, models like the Caravelle emphasized comfort, while the Syncro introduced all-wheel drive for greater versatility.

The T3 has since become a cult classic, beloved for its durability, modular interior, and association with camper culture, making it a favorite among collectors and adventure enthusiasts.
